GM Advance is the latest in soft lens material innovation; Building on the chemistry of the GM3, this material has been developed to provide the ultimate on eye wearing experience. Utilising the highest purity monomers, a careful blend results in a material that exhibits exceptional on eye stability, water retention and durability. This exceptional combination of properties ensures that manufacturers yields are high and lens returns remain low, due to high patient satisfaction and low levels of lens breakage.

The GM3 material is available in both 49% and 58% water contents and takes the good features of traditional hydrophilic polymers and adds an extra dimension. An extra monomer to be precise, high purity Glycerol Methacrylate. This ingredient enhances the water retention characteristics of this material compared with traditional hydrogels, and just as importantly maintains the visual acuity and comfort whilst reducing the likelihood of protein deposition.

A novel polymerisation technique, together with using the highest purity monomers, produces the Contaflex range of soft contact lens materials. This results in a range of soft lens materials with water contents from 38% to 75%, that exhibit zero stress and excellent machinability. Each of the products has their own benefit. The lower water content materials have greater lens stability and higher tensile strength and suit daily wear applications. The mid to high water content materials offer a greater Dk, which leads to more comfortable wearing characteristics and excellent clarity of vision. Owing to the level of water content in the 75% materials, this offers opportunities in bandage and other therapeutic lens applications.
