Do you know how much it costs you to make a lens?
At Contamac BV, we are quite clear about the requirement to reduce costs and minimising your process steps is crucial to this objective. The unique features in our 100 series lathes, software and blocking system, all combine to achieve this and more. The added value of reproducibility and shorter delivery times soon become apparent too, with less product handling, less process variables and complex lenses being made as easily as simple ones!
Don't assume that high productivity and lower costs is a result of faster cutting times! Consider the impact of distortion and rework due to process induced stress and increased costs of rapidly worn components.
Dont assume that short polishing times mean little added manufacturing cost!
Why would you polish anyway? Consider the fact that you still have capital equipment that requires space, has to be maintained and irrespective of the level of control applied, the manual setting will add to the subjective nature of such a process. Quality can be affected due to incorrect selection of polishing tools, cloth and even polish. Poorly maintained equipment and consumables will generate lens faults such as deformation (hence power variations) and lens damage, all of which are only identified by frequent and intensive inspection. That all costs time and money!
Customers demand that you understand their needs and supply exactly the right products. To meet this challenge, the approach may have to be different from conventional or traditional ways of lens manufacture. Integrating the lens design features into a simplified manufacturing of toric and non-toric lenses, multi-focal optics and lenses for irregular cornea's. The result is improved lens fits, time and time again and yet still, with short delivery times.
